  1. Dear Scout--

Fenway here and full of excitement over Crufts! Did I tell you that my mother was invited? She is the great Devon, who is in the AKC ROM and a former Border Collie Bitch of the Year. (my human mom thinks she sometimes shares that honor). Devon is Ch. Brackenhill Flew by Ewe and she is a really grand competitor who just loves the ring. She's got a great lovely stride. Besides the conformation stuff, she's got a ton of obedience and agility titles along with some herding stuff, too. I only hope I can do a smidgeon of what she's accomplished.

Anyway, because of the cost and the big trip, Devon has declined the invitation to show at Crufts but she is so honored to be invited. We were wondering if you know who the border collies are who will compete on Sunday.

Us Yanks are solidly behind Crufts and a mass email has been circulating around the Show Border Collie site that gives the web address for Crufts and urges everyone to support the show and watch the Streaming Video. The people at PETA who caused the broadcast problem with a very one-sided campaign against show dogs should be spanked for not entirely speaking the truth. We Americans want you all to know you have our support. In fact, the person who owns and bred the #1 border collie in the US sent me that email about watching Crufts and she urged everyone to support the show.

So, Scout, not much is going on over here except for me taking lots of obedience classes. I am doing a brilliant job at being good and flinging myself into heel position with 100% enthusiasm. We are only in a sub-novice class, but I am clearly going to be the Validictorian. I'm also going into serious agility training in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, I've been playing lots of frisbee to get in shape. You can watch my latest session on YouTube:

Please let me know the big news from Crufts. I hope you are good, happy, loved and eating some fine food.

    Your pal,
    Fenway

  2. Hey, Scout!

We watched the Freestyle competition and were just enchanted by Tina Humprey's routine with her border collie. I posted about this on my blogspot to help educate all my friends in the US about both Crufts and the Freestyle sport.

By the way, please thank your Queen for knighting our Senator Teddy Kennedy. He is very beloved for giving a lifetime of service to people who most need help. And, Ted is very sick. We are just so touched that your Queen thought enough of Ted to bestow this honor. She is a real pip!

    Your pal,
    Fenway

  3. Fenway did you know that the Crufts You Tube channel was the most watched on youtube during the event. It was sad it wasnt broadcast live on terrestial tv but at least lots of people watched it live online. We had a great time. Mirk was on Sky News with Carolyn Menteith a very famous dog person over here. He spent the whole time licking her face as she was talking to camera, she didnt miss a word - what a pro!
We met loads of dogs and their people and talked about puppy socialising and how important it is to help you be happy later in your life. Updating the blog soon with all our photos. Bark again soon, Scout
